Consultations

For every consultation a written report and some follow up by e-mail or when necessary by phone is included. You receive the report by e-mail within two workdays at the latest.

Prenatal Consultation

You can already contact me during your pregnancy to seek answers for any questions you may have. Maybe you have health issues yourself, or you know that your baby will need extra care after birth, or perhaps an earlier breastfeeding experience was not as good or successful as you wanted it to be.
This consultation can take place in my office or at your home. Within 24 hours you will receive a report of our talk. After the baby is born we will have contact to evaluate if more help is needed.

At your home – € 62,50 per hour, € 85,- for two hours
In my office – € 57,50 per hour, € 75,- for two hours

Consultation

To assess the breastfeeding situation well, it is often important to observe a feeding session. Therefore we will try to plan an appointment at a time that you expect your baby will want to feed. Together, we can work towards a solution that suits you and your baby best.

This consultation can take place at your home or in my office, and it will take at least an hour and a half. Within two workdays you receive a report of our talk. The follow up is flexible by phone or email, when another visit is necessary an extra fee will be charged.

At your home € 135,- per consultation with a written report and follow up
Follow up consultation at your home € 100,00 per hour

In my office € 115,00 per consultation with a written report and follow up
Follow up consultation at my office € 85,- per hour

Telephone/email consultation

You can always contact me with any question. If addressing your problem doesn’t require an observation, we can try to resolve it by telephone or email. For example this is possible for questions about going back to work – pumping your milk, baby refuses the bottle – or the need to use medication.

When you contact me, either by phone or email, we will decide I what way I shall answer your question. After we resolved your initial question, we may find that a consultation is still needed, in that case I will adjust the fee accordingly.

After we talk on the phone I will send you a short report and, where needed, additional information by email. The fee for consulting me this way will be defined by how much time it takes me to answer your question properly and that depends on the complexity of your question.

To give you an idea of how the fee will be determined:

Phone
A phone consultation lasts at least 10 minutes and will be rounded up per 5 minutes. For the first 10 minutes the fee is € 15,- and after that € 5,50 per 5 minutes.

Videocall
A videocall with a report included: € 40,- for calls lasting 0 – 30 minutes and € 65,- for those lasting up to 60 minutes. After that € 1,10 per minute.

Email
€ 16,- for up to 15 minutes of handling time
€ 26,- for up to 30 minutes of handling time
€ 38,50 for up to 45 minutes of handling time
€ 48,- for up to 60 minutes of handling time

Setting up an appointment is not considered a consultation.

Payment and reimbursement

  • Cancellations: If you cancel your appointment with 24 hours’ advance notice, there is no charge. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, 50% of the fee will be charged.
  • Parking fees: When I have to pay parking fees in order to make a home visit, these fees are not included in the fee for the home visit. I will charge you the cost of the parking fees in addition to the fee for the home visit.
  • All consultation fees are free of BTW

Payment
The invoice for the consultation will be send to you by e-mail or regular mail after our talk. You pay me directly for the service. If your health insurance covers lactation consultant care, you can submit a claim for insurance reimbursement. I am not able to process claims for insurance reimbursements on your behalf.

Reimbursement
Most health insurance reimburses lactation consultant care in full or partially, when you are insured for more than the mandatory basic health insurance. Conditions that may apply to reimbursement are:

  • The need for a referral by your midwife or primary care doctor.
  • The lactation consultant has to be a member of the NVL
  • Always check your insurance policy to see what your insurance covers and if conditions apply.

You can consult this website for more information about which insurance companies cover lactation consultant care on this page (opens in new tab).

All my consultations are subject to the general terms and conditions drawn up/laid down by the NVL (Nederlandse Vereniging van Lactatiekundigen). You can find the Dutch text of these terms here.
